Flowers for Black Men
In the summer of 2020
#FlowersforBlackMen was a way to show Black Men the love, compassion, and sympathy that is acknowledged when tragedy strikes - and celebrate them for continuing to push through.
Imagine being a Black Man who wakes up and sees that yet again, another Man that looks just like you is killed at the hands of the police. Imagine leaving your house, hoping your day goes smoothly, because if not, you may not make it home. Imagine having to go back out into the world with your head held high having to act as if everything is okay and even worse, normal.
Giving flowers has always been a sign of love, compassion, sympathy, and celebration. What is happening and what has BEEN happening is not okay and not normal.
100% of proceeds of over $4,500 was donated to Street Watch LA, Black VIsion’s Collective, and Reclaim the Block.
